Finding Winning Queries
The Keywords report reveals the complete list of search queries for which a domain, subfolder, or specific URL ranks in the Top 100. This is your primary source for competitor benchmarking and content inspiration.
What you can achieve:
- Spy on Competitors: See which keywords bring the most traffic to your rivals.
- Find Content Gaps: Identify valuable keywords your competitors rank for, but you don't.
- PPC Insights: Analyze which keywords competitors are bidding on in Google Ads.
Getting Started
- Go to Site Analysis in the left sidebar and select Keywords.
- Enter a domain, subfolder, or URL in the search bar and choose the target country.
- Switch between the Organic and Paid tabs depending on whether you need SEO or PPC data.
- Use Filters to narrow results by position, volume, keyword difficulty, and more.
Key Metrics Explained
- Position: Where the domain ranks for this keyword. A "New" label indicates a keyword that recently entered the Top 100.
- Volume: The average number of monthly searches for this keyword.
- CPC (Cost Per Click): The average price advertisers pay for a click in Google Ads. High CPC often signals high-intent, "money" keywords.
- Keyword Difficulty (KD): An estimate of how hard it would be to rank in the Top 10 for this phrase.
Pro Tip: Find "Low-Hanging Fruit"
Don't waste time on impossible keywords. Use this workflow to find phrases where you can win quickly.
- Enter your own domain in the search bar.
- Apply a filter: set Position to Between 11 and 20.
- These are your "page 2" keywords. With a little extra optimization — improving content or adding internal links — you can push them into the Top 10 and see an immediate traffic jump.
| ⚠️ Important: Keyword data is updated regularly, but new rankings may take a few days to appear. For real-time monitoring of specific keywords, use the Rank Tracker module. |
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don't I see a specific keyword that I know my site ranks for?
A: Serpstat tracks millions of keywords, but it may not include every long-tail or highly specific phrase. If a keyword is missing, add it to your Rank Tracker project and we will start monitoring it specifically for you.
Q: What does the "Keyword Difficulty" score tell me?
A: It's a scale from 0 to 100. Scores above 60 are considered difficult and usually require a high-authority domain and many backlinks. For new sites, we recommend targeting keywords with KD below 30.
Q: How can I see only keywords that contain a specific word?
A: Use the Filter button above the table. Select "Keyword" → "Contains" → and type your word. This is great for finding all "how-to" or "price" related queries.
